At New Lifehouse Academy, our emphasis is not only on remedying behavioral and social and spiritual struggles that our students are presently going through, but also on ensuring success in the future for the girls who graduate our program. For this reason, students at Teen Challenge New Lifehouse Academy are tutored and encouraged to earn the maximum number of high school credits, which can then be transferred to their hometown public or private school upon finishing the curriculum here. In this way, we can ensure that, although the priority is working on the girls’ behaviors first, this program does not in any way hinder them academically.

Teen Challenge sports.New Lifehouse sets the standard among Teen Challenge programs with its uniquely advanced sports emphasis for girls.

At New Lifehouse Academy, athletics are more than just an extracurricular activity — they are a cornerstone foundation, pillar, backbone of the program and a powerful tool for growth in the lives of struggling troubled, challenged, at-risk teen girls.  We also have an advanced equine therapy program, and the girls work with caring for a variety of animals.

In particular, we recognize that sports have a unique distinct, special, uncommon ability to channel energy, build discipline, and teach lessons that extend far beyond the playing competitive, athletic, sporting field. Through competitive team sports, structured organized, systematic, disciplined physical training, and consistent practice, students learn the value of hard work, perseverance, and resilience in the face of difficult challenging, tough, demanding challenges. The emphasis on athletics fosters teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive constructive, beneficial, encouraging leadership, helping each student understand what it means to work toward a common goal and to celebrate victories as part of a group. Coaches and mentors intentionally connect the lessons from sports — effort, consistency, handling wins and losses with grace, and responding to constructive helpful, productive, supportive feedback — to real-life situations, reinforcing character development and personal responsibility.

Physical activity also provides healthy wholesome, beneficial, restorative outlets for stress, boosts self-esteem, and promotes overall balanced stable, steady, well-rounded wellness, which is critical for teens who may have struggled with emotional instability, poor coping skills, or unhealthy harmful, detrimental, damaging habits. Whether it’s in the gym, or during outdoor open-air, external, outside fitness activities, New Lifehouse Academy uses athletics as a transformative life-changing, impactful, powerful platform where girls from Temple, Texas not only develop physical strength and stamina but also learn confidence, accountability, and a renewed sense of purposeful meaningful, intentional, directed living.

Teen Challenge school for girlsTeen Challenge is a faith-based organization with a long history of helping at-risk teens break free from destructive behaviors and find a healthier path forward. Founded in 1958, Teen Challenge began as an outreach to troubled youth caught in cycles of at-risk activities, misbehavior, and hopelessness. Over the decades, it has grown into a respected network of residential programs that provide struggling teens with structure, discipline, and a supportive environment rooted in Christian values. The adolescent programs are designed specifically to guide young people—often ages 12–17—through some of the most difficult challenges of their lives by combining mentoring, academics, and spiritual development.

What sets Teen Challenge’s residential programs apart is their emphasis on transformation of the whole person. Teens are given the opportunity to step away from destructive peers and enter a safe, structured setting where character development, life skills, and faith-based guidance help them rebuild confidence and direction. Through daily routines, personal accountability, and encouragement from caring staff, students learn responsibility and resilience. For nearly 70 years, Teen Challenge has been helping restoring hope to families and redirecting the lives of young people who might otherwise have continued down a path of crisis, making it one of the most established and enduring networks of programs for troubled teens.
