New Lifehouse Academy Restores Teens with Great Athletic Programs.
When you’re looking at top boarding schools for troubled girls, be sure that they offer a strong academic focus as well as a variety of activities and sports. Some parents may see activities and sports as a waste of time that simply reduces academic achievement, on the contrary, competitive athletics can improve the learning development of participating students.
New Lifehouse Academy is an independent ministry of Teen Challenge Oklahoma that has an outstanding varsity-level competitive athletics program.
New Lifehouse is an affordable, boarding school for troubled girls nestled at the foothills of the Ozarks near Grand Lake on a 40-acre property, with access nearby to over 900 acres with a large creek, wooded hills and trails. Our campus is designed for troubled or misbehaving girls, ages 14-18. The goal here at New Lifehouse, is to provide teenage girls and their families with a well-structured program and the unique tools and resources to help them begin to thrive academically, relationally and spiritually. We help once troubled girls begin living a fulfilling life, equipping them to become happy, confident, self-reliant and successful adults. One of the ways we do this is through our varsity-level competitive athletics.
New Lifehouse Academy offers a host of activities including:
- Volleyball (varsity)
- Basketball (varsity)
- Track (varsity)
- Archery
Our students have won numerous awards and regional championships.
As students participate in team sports and activities here at New Lifehouse Academy, they experience challenges that can help build character, and teach respect for a leader’s authority. Your troubled girl won’t fall behind her peers in athletics as she learns how to persevere through sweaty workouts. Student players also learn time management, how to get along with others, and grow a better sense of self-worth.
Playing team sports together also helps students build important interactive skills and to work out many of the issues a teen girl might be dealing with in her life, instead of hiding behind a computer. As they talk, share and open up to one another, young teens can learn to show respect for personal differences, and practice kindness and honesty. The communication skills that are learned now will also help build social interaction and support success in their future vocations and careers.
