New Lifehouse Academy is not like typical institutions in Illinois, in that it lacks the feel of an institution, instead offering a compassionate, homey atmosphere where residents feel safe and at ease, while being closely supervised. This has been known to be the background in which teenagers experience the highest measure of success. If your teenager is exhibiting depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma, or substance abuse problems, our program’s staff is qualified to deal with these struggles and help them to heal.    Building comfortable and relaxed school is essential for helpful therapy. If girls do not feel at-home and safe, they are not as willing to be as open as they need to be. Our campus and therapists will treat the core issues that are causing worrisome and problematic behaviors.

Teenagers struggling in their education can also find emotional and behavioral recovery with appropriate support and mentoring.

The scholastic program offered at New Lifehouse Academy is specifically designed with unhealthy teens in mind. We understand that troubled teens typically have fallen behind in schoolwork and are in need of specialized academic support. They need to get caught up and back on track. While academic achievement is, of course, the aim, this program is designed to deal with the unique emotional and behavioral needs of struggling teenagers.     For troubled girls, counseling is necessary to heal problematic thought cycles that lead to many of the problems teens are experiencing. Only focusing on external issues like behavior and academics will not be enough in terms of shaping a genuine, enduring change in these teenagers. In fact, once the emotional and spiritual elements of these teenager’s problems are treated, they often straighten out in other parts of their lives, like academics and behavior. Moreover, they need months of time to practice their new thinking, in an environment where their missteps are pointed out.

Alcohol abuse among teenagers in Schaumburg, Illinois can be a crushing problem. For non-addictive behaviors, we can help!

Girls involved with substance abuse or who are experiencing emotional problems will commonly avoid physical recreation, which are good and appropriate for them. At HLHA, we encourage a re-kindling of their innate interest in exercise and the outdoors. Keeping teens physically challenged increases health and confidence, which are important additions to the counseling students receive.    Students at this program also learn applicable, hands-on work skills. This teaches responsibility and integrity, as well as increasing self-esteem. The girls discover to match work and fun, creating a reliable and admirable work ethic and lifestyle. This carries on into their life after the program, letting them to become helpful, productive members of society.    Within NLHA’s safe and compassionate program, girls can build principles, and find God. This is the only real strategy for teens to overcome the selfishness and self-centeredness that causes many of their dysfunctional patterns, from addiction to other conduct disorders. Within a healthy structure, and immersed in helpful influences, students develop a new, healthy peer group that can hold them accountable and influence them in their new, principled way of living.
