This has been known to be the atmosphere in which teenagers find the largest measure of success. If your teenager is suffering from depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma, or drug and alcohol abuse issues, our program’s staff is trained to address these issues and help them to heal.    Creating comfortable and relaxed environment is crucial for conducive therapy. If girls do not feel relaxed and secure, they are not asfree to be as forthcoming as they need to be. Our campus and counselors will address the core issues that are resulting in worrisome and problematic behaviors.

Teenagers struggling in their academics can also achieve emotional and behavioral success with proper support and mentoring.

The educational program taught at New Lifehouse Academy is uniquely created with unhealthy teens in mind. We understand that troubled teens often have lagged behind in academics and are in need of specialized academic repair. They need to get caught up and back on track. While academic success is, of course, the aim, this program is structured to cope with the specialized emotional and behavioral needs of struggling teenagers.     For troubled girls, counseling is essential to address unhealthy thought patterns that are at the root of many of the issues teens are dealing with. Just dealing with external issues like behavior and academics will not be enough in terms of creating a real, enduring turnaroun in these teenagers. In fact, once the emotional and spiritual components of these teenager’s ailments are addressed, they often straighten out in other parts of their lives, like academics and behavior. Moreover, they need plenty of time to practice their new thinking, in an environment where their missteps are pointed out.

Alcohol abuse in teenagers in Gallup, New Mexico can be a crushing problem. For non-addictive behaviors, we can help!

Girls experimenting with substance abuse or who are undergoing emotional issues will frequently avoid physical recreation, which are good and necessary for them. At HLHA, we encourage a regaining of their natural interest in fitness and the outdoors. Keeping teens physically active gains fitness and self-esteem, which are important additions to the therapy students experience.    Teenagers at this school also learn useful, real-life work skills. This teaches trustworthiness and honesty, as well as boosting self-esteem. The girls learn to balance work and fun, leading to a practical and robust work ethic and lifestyle. This goes on into their life after graduation, allowing them to become useful, productive members of society.    Within NLHA’s safe and supportive program, girls can learn principles, and discover God. This is the only effective technique for teens to be rid of the selfishness and self-centeredness that leads to many of their problematic behaviors, from addiction to other behavioral disorders. Within a supportive structure, and surrounded by healthy influences, students develop a new, healthy peer group that can hold them accountable and encourage them in their new, principled way of living.

Gallup was founded in 1881 as a railhead for the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad. The city was named after David Gallup, a paymaster for the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad. It is the most populous city between Albuquerque, New Mexico and Flagstaff, Arizona.
Gallup is sometimes called the “Indian Capital of the World”, for its location in the heart of Native American lands, and the presence of Navajo, Zuni, Hopi and other tribes. One-third of the city’s population has Native American roots. Gallup’s nickname references the huge impact of the Native American cultures found in and around Gallup. However, the city is criticized in the novel Ceremony, authored by the Native American writer Leslie Marmon Silko, for the city’s slums.
Route 66 runs through Gallup, and the town’s name is mentioned in the lyrics to the song, “Route 66”. In 2003, the U.S. and New Mexico Departments of Transportation renumbered US Highway 666, the city’s other major highway, as Route 491, since the number “666” is associated with Satan and Devil worship, and thus it was considered offensive to some people. Some local Navajo felt that the renumbering would prevent the route from being “cursed.”Citation needed
It has close proximity to Native American reservations, and historic lack of economic development in addition to many mine closures in the last century. As a result of these mine closures, Gallup has a large socioeconomic poor population.
The historic El Rancho Hotel & Motel has hosted a numerous array of movie stars including John Wayne, Ronald Reagan, Humphrey Bogart, Spencer Tracy, Katharine Hepburn, Joan Crawford, Kirk Douglas, Doris Day, Gregory Peck and Burt Lancaster. The rugged terrain surrounding Gallup was popular with Hollywood filmmakers during the 1940s and 1950s for the on-location shooting of Westerns. Actors and film crews would stay at the hotel during filming. Films made in Gallup included Billy the Kid (1930), Pursued (1947), The Sea of Grass (1947), Four Faces West (1948), Only the Valiant (1951), Ace in the Hole (1951), Escape from Fort Bravo (1953), A Distant Trumpet (1964) and The Hallelujah Trail (1965).
Gallup was the setting as the center of activity in a 2006 Sci Fi Channel mini-series The Lost Room, starring Peter Krause. Akon filmed a music video in Gallup in 2005. In 1994, parts of the movie Natural Born Killers were filmed in the city.
The city has long opposed racial discrimination against its African-American residents, the majority of whom lived on the city’s West side in the 1940s before the US Civil rights movement took place.Citation needed During World War II, the city fought successfully to prevent 800 Japanese American residents from being placed in wartime internment.
