New Lifehouse Academy is unlike common institutions in Iowa, in that it lacks the atmosphere of an institution, instead providing a compassionate, homelike atmosphere where children feel safe and at ease, while being highly supervised. This has been shown to be the atmosphere in which teenagers find the largest measure of success. If your teenager is dealing with depression, anxiety, low self-confidence, trauma, or drug and alcohol abuse issues, our program’s staff is trained to deal with these struggles and help them to heal.    Building comfortable and relaxed program is crucial for successful therapy. If girls do not feel at-home and safe, they are not asfree to be as forthcoming as they need to be. Our campus and therapists will address the root issues that are causing worrisome and problematic behaviors.

Girls struggling in school can also achieve emotional and behavioral recovery with appropriate support and mentoring.

The academic program offered at New Lifehouse Academy is especially created with unhealthy teens in mind. We acknowledge that dysfunctional teens often have lagged behind in schoolwork and are in need of specialized academic assistance. They need to get caught up and back on track. While academic excellence is, of course, the goal, this program is created to address the specialized emotional and behavioral needs of struggling teenagers.     For troubled girls, therapy is necessary to address problematic thought cycles that lead to many of the problems teens are facing. Only dealing with surface issues like behavior and education will not suffice in terms of effecting a genuine, lasting turnaroun in these girls. In fact, once the emotional and spiritual aspects of these teenager’s problems are treated, they tend to straighten out in other parts of their lives, including academics and behavior. Moreover, they need plenty of time to practice their new thinking, in an environment where their missteps are pointed out.

Alcohol abuse in teenagers in Davenport, Iowa can be a devastating issue. For non-addictive behaviors, we can help!

Girls involved with substance abuse or who are displaying emotional issues will often avoid physical recreation, which are healthy and necessary for them. At HLHA, we encourage a re-discovery of their God-given interest in exercise and the outdoors. Keeping teens physically active gains health and confidence, which are crucial additions to the counseling students experience.    Students at this school also learn useful, hands-on work skills. This teaches responsibility and integrity, as well as increasing self-esteem. The girls are taught to balance work and recreation, building a reliable and admirable work ethic and lifestyle. This carries on into their life after their time here, letting them to become useful, productive members of society.    Within NLHA’s supervised and caring program, girls are able to gain principles, and discover God. This is the only real technique for teens to be rid of the selfishness and self-centeredness that causes many of their unhealthy behaviors, from addiction to other behavioral disorders. Within a positive structure, and immersed in healthy influences, students gain a new, healthy peer group that will hold them accountable and encourage them in their new, spiritual way of living.
