Teens who attend boarding schools for troubled girls within their own home area are at a much more significant chance of running away from the program early, cancelling out the benefits they might otherwise receive. Enrolling your girl in a safe, highly structured environment like HLHA, some distance away from Columbia, Missouri, is vital to properly rehabilitating your troubled teenager.

Healthy outcomes for troubled teens can be found at HLHA’s all-girl boarding school.

New Lifehouse Academy is not like other institutions in Missouri, in that it lacks the feel of an institution, instead providing a caring, relaxing atmosphere where children feel safe and relaxed, while being closely supervised. This has been shown to be the atmosphere in which teenagers can achieve the highest measure of success. If your teenager is dealing with depression, anxiety, low self-confidence, trauma, or drug and alcohol abuse issues, our program’s staff is qualified to address these issues and help them to heal.    Creating comfortable and relaxed program is essential for successful therapy. If girls do not feel comfortable and safe, they are not as willing to be as forthcoming as they need to be. Our campus and therapists will treat the root issues that are resulting in worrisome and problematic behaviors.

Teenagers struggling in school can also discover emotional and behavioral success with appropriate support and mentoring.

The academic program offered at New Lifehouse Academy is especially created with troubled teens in mind. We acknowledge that troubled teens typically have lagged behind in academics and are in need of individualized academic assistance. They need to get caught up and back on track. While academic achievement is, of course, the aim, this program is created to address the unique emotional and behavioral needs of struggling teenagers.     For troubled girls, therapy is required to change problematic thought patterns that lead to many of the problems teens are experiencing. Just dealing with external issues like actions and school will not suffice in terms of effecting a real, lifelong change in these teenagers. In fact, after the emotional and spiritual elements of these teenager’s problems are treated, they tend to straighten out in other parts of their lives, like academics and behavior. Moreover, they need months of time to practice their new thinking, in an environment where their missteps are pointed out.

Drug abuse in teenagers in Columbia, Missouri can be a crushing problem. For non-addictive behaviors, we can help!

Girls experimenting with substance abuse or who are undergoing emotional problems will frequently avoid physical recreation, which are good and appropriate for them. At HLHA, we push for a regaining of their natural interest in fitness and the outdoors. Keeping teens physically active gains health and self-esteem, which are crucial additions to the counseling students receive.    Girls at this program also learn effective, real-life work skills. This teaches responsibility and accountability, as well as increasing self-esteem. The girls learn to balance work and play, building a reliable and admirable work ethic and lifestyle. This carries on into their life after the program, enabling them to become useful, productive members of society.    Within NLHA’s supervised and compassionate program, girls can learn principles, and find God. This is the only proven method for teens to be rid of the selfishness and self-centeredness that leads to many of their problematic patterns, from addiction to other behavioral disorders. Within a positive structure, and immersed in healthy influences, students obtain a new, healthy peer group that can hold them accountable and influence them in their new, principled way of living.
